Register to Vote
To register to vote (or re-register) in a state other than California, use a search engine to search for the name of your state and "voter registration" "register to vote", or something similar. Or you can try using the state government resource search engine below, under All States - State Government Resources.
You may register to vote (or re-register) in California if you meet ALL of the following criteria.
WARNING: It is a crime to register to vote if you are NOT a U.S. citizen or if you do not meet the other requirements. Registering to vote and/or voting in the U.S. when you are not a U.S. citizen may prevent you from ever being able to become a legal U.S. citizen.
- You are a United States citizen
- You are a resident of California
- You are at least 18 years of age (or will be by the date of the next election)
- You are not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felony
- You have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote
Register to Vote in California using one of the following methods - YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN!

Get a voter registration card at any U.S. Post Office, Public Library,
or Police or Fire Station, fill it out, and mail it in.

Use the following link to request a pre-printed voter registration card for you to sign and mail in. Complete the on-line voter registration form and it will be printed and mailed to you. When you receive it, just sign it and mail it to your county election official. Mail it at least one month prior to election day to avoid missing your opportunity to vote due to postal delays.

As an alternative, you may read the following notice, download the Voter Registration Card PDF file, print it, and follow the instructions to fill in the required information, sign and date it, and mail it to your county elections office using the address in the List of CALIFORNIA COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE ADDRESSES.
